Official Custody Contacts

For a person who may be in Sherman County Jail custody, start with the sheriff's office because the official county page says the sheriff has charge and custody of the jail and prisoners. The county did not publish a separate jail records-unit number, booking desk number, or public online roster in the sources reviewed.

Use the right route for the record type or custody stage. A local arrest may be with the sheriff. A sentenced Nebraska prisoner belongs in NDCS records. A federal sentence belongs in BOP records, and immigration detention is searched through ICE.

Sherman County Court records may also matter after an arrest. The official county court page lists Clerk Magistrate Janelle Mostek at PO Box 55, Loup City, NE 68853, phone 308-745-1513 ext. 102, fax 308-745-1510, with county court hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. District court records route through Clerk of District Court Sasha N. Habe at PO Box 456, Loup City, NE 68853, phone 308-745-1513 ext. 103, fax 308-745-0157, and sasha.habe@nejudicial.gov.

For state prison records, use the NDCS locator first. Written Nebraska Department of Correctional Services public-record requests can be emailed to DCS.PublicRecords@nebraska.gov or mailed to Public Disclosure Unit, Nebraska Department of Correctional Services, PO Box 94661, Lincoln, NE 68509. NDCS says requests should describe the record, include contact information, and cite the Nebraska Public Records Statutes or Neb. Rev. Stat. Section 84-712.
